(1) Job Title:   Police Multi-Purpose Officer

Department:  Police Department

Reports To:   Police /Lt. Over Investigations

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

                        JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Investigate criminal acts as a first responding officer if assigned to road duties. Enforce the laws and ordinances of the City and State that pertain to the welfare, control, and licensing of common domestic animals. Investigates allegations of animal cruelty and neglect and request arrest warrants needed and in accordance with state laws and city ordinances. Responds to and investigates calls or complaints involving common domestic animals.

Receive and respond to citizens’ complaints and reports from other agencies and departments on alleged violations of City Ordinances and related codes; interview complaints and witnesses; conduct investigations and provide recommendations for resolutions and

investigates complainants of violation of city and state nuisance abatement laws. Appears in court as the citation issuing officer to testify or subpoena witnesses to testify for hearings and provides information to the public related to animal issues and code enforcement.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None       

QUALIFICATIONS     

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Class I certification as Law Enforcement Officer certified through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.  At least two (2) years of recent law enforcement work experience preferred.

(2) Job Title:   Municipal Court Clerk

Department: Municipal Court

Reports To:   Municipal Court Judge or City Treasurer

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assists and carries out clerical tasks in Municipal Court. Prepares docket or calendar of cases to be called. Enter all tickets into the court computer system software. Spends time in court on Mondays at Magistrate’s Office for Municipal Court Cases and after court, disposes of all tickets in the court’s computer system then sending the yellow copies of all tickets to the SCDMV with DL 76 forms. Handle all tickets not paid on or before the court date with NRVC notices, processing to suspend licenses due to non-payment sending notices to both defendants and to the SCDMV. Compile Preliminary Hearing List as requested. Types all warrants for General Sessions and Municipal cases when requested by officers; prepares bond papers for General Sessions and Municipal cases. Process fines on tickets and warrants and prepare jail releases as necessary. Perform monthly and yearly reports for the State, process Jury Trial information when necessary and prepare set-off debt list for tickets not paid.

QUALIFICATIONS     

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required;  One year certificate from college or technical school preferred; and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

(3) Job Title:   Municipal Street Maintenance Worker

Department: Street Department

Reports To:   Public Works Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

JOB DESCRIPTION

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Cuts grass and trims weeds on town property, sidewalks and designated parks.  Digs flower beds and plants flowers.  Removes dead animals from roadways and ditches.  Occasionally cleans buildings, washes windows, and empties trash cans.  Paints interior and exterior walls and trim.  Removes litter from streets and public areas.  If licensed, can operate backhoe to dig trenches.  Drives truck and loads fallen tree limbs and roadside trash onto truck and delivers refuse to landfill.  Removes and replaces damaged street and traffic signs as well as garbage roll carts used by residents and businesses.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None       

QUALIFICATIONS     

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
