A Note from Brandon Staton, Interim Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director:
To: Tackle Football Participants and Parents
From: Interim Director Brandon Staton
The City of Barnwell will be having tackle football this year. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, Interim Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Director Brandon Staton, has decided to combine ages 9-10 and 11-12 to be create two Barnwell recreation tackle football teams. We have decided that to be able to give the opportunity to play to those who have signed up on time this is our best option going forward. All games will be held at Lemon Park and a schedule is currently being put together.
The reasoning behind the combination is due to several factors. The lack of signups from the 11-12 age division, inability to find other towns with programs to play, the current COVID-19 situation in the area, and an abbreviated preparation time frame to properly organize for the upcoming fall, have all attributed to the decision.
Those who would like to request refunds may do so however, we believe that giving the children the opportunity to play, even though in-house, gives them the experience and learning opportunity of the game and lays a foundation of having Tackle Football for future years.
Any questions and concerns may be Directed to Interim Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Director Brandon Staton.
