The City of Barnwell is located on several major thoroughfares in the southwestern Savannah region of the state. US Highway 278 runs from Arkansas through Atlanta all the way to Hilton Head; highways 3 and 64 are connectors to other US Highways such as 78, 321, and 301. Barnwell has numerous historic homes and buildings with several listed on the National Historic Register. There are beautiful lakes, rivers and streams all around the area, including our 100 acre lake that is located in the center of town, Lake Edgar Brown. Please see our Visit Barnwell section of this website for more information.
The City of Barnwell has several brochures about the community, one which contains a map of the historic areas of downtown for visitors. We also have a walking tour brochure that provides information about many of our historic churches and homes. We also have two informational cards describing the unique Vertical Sundial in the courtyard of the county courthouse, as well as the Old Police Station that sits on the circle. If you would like to receive a mailing with these and other brochures and information about Barnwell and the area, please email Lynn Cox
